The Culture Programme (2007-2013) is a seven year Community
funding programme established and administered by the European Commission. Its aim is to
enhance the cultural area shared by Europeans through the development of cultural cooperation
projects between the Member States of
the European Union (including Bulgaria and Romania from 1 Jan 2007), the three EEA
countries (Ireland, Liechtenstein and Norway), the EU candidate countries
( Turkey, Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) and the
Western Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro,
Serbia including Kosovo).
The programme provides Community grants,
following a selection process, to two types of actions from any artistic
or cultural field:
It also provides Community grants for
literary translations by independent publishers or publishing groups,
following a selection process.
This programme goes beyond the previous
sectorial approach of past culture programmes, towards an
interdisciplinary approach which aims at promoting increased cooperations
between cultural players by encouraging various types of cooperation
projects between different sectors. This programme is open to all non
audio-visual cultural operators including cultural enterprises where they
act in a non-profit making cultural capacity.
The Cultural Contact Point for Cyprus,
provides information on the Culture Programme and offers support to applicants.
